About CNG Systems

ADVANTAGES of installing a CNG system

CNG is currently less expensive than petroleum but the conversion also benefits your pocket book by lowering fuel requirements – With CNG conversion kits for gasoline engines, fuel economy is increased by approximately 10% since natural gas displaces a portion of the air otherwise pulled into the combustion chamber. This displacement of air by the CNG causes a minor reduction in horsepower but gives back a price advantage by effectively reducing the size of your engine causing a reduction in fuel (CNG) use.

Diesel engines running on CNG and diesel will get about 25% more power and at the same time use less diesel.
Depending on the arrangement of your car's drive system and where there is room for the CNG tank, often the tank will need to be installed in the trunk of most cars. Believe it or not, the weight of the CNG tank tends to even out the balance of your vehicle especially if you have a front wheel drive car. Here's why: Most cars are designed to handle full “passenger weight”. Since most cars rarely have a full passenger load, an additional tank usually increases traction on the rear wheels, creates a smoother ride since the car was designed to handle an additional load.

Rear wheel drive car? Same advantages as a front wheel drive model with the addition of rear wheel traction in the winter. No more need to add sand or salt bags in your trunk, the CNG tank is just heavy enough to give you a traction advantage as well as “pre-loading” your suspension for a better ride.

Tanks installed in the truck bed of most trucks, or behind the back seat of an SUV or van. Sometimes smaller 11" diameter tanks can be installed underneath some vehicles which still provides a weight / balance and traction advantage in the winter months.
